About

Doug Whitfield Residential Designer, Inc. is a site-specific custom home design firm that provides high quality design, planning, and construction coordination. Designing since 1983, our firm specializes in coastal and view optimizing designs.  Our extensive design experience can accommodate a variety of personal styles, as well as the challenges sometimes presented by our Gulf Coast landscape.  Additionally, we are a Professional Green Design firm.  This exemplifies our diligence, dedication, and eagerness to design “green.”

Whether it is a single story, multi-level, inland, or water front design, our detailed working drawings and customized specifications, along with years of building code experience and interaction with building code regulators, guarantees building code compliance.  Proper product selection, attention to detail, and adherence to constantly changing building codes and insurance regulations has given an outstanding record for minimal structures lost from our area’s demanding and diverse weather conditions.

We use the latest technology in home planning & construction techniques. Designing in a 3-D computer format allows you, the home owner, a “virtual” walk-through of your new home before a single nail is driven.  This can prevent unnecessary & costly on-site revisions.  Whether you need a new home in town, waterfront home on pilings, or a home in the country, our design experience and coordination efforts are sure to make your new home planning a stress-free and exciting experience from the design phase through the completion of construction.

We also provide quality custom addition and renovation design service.  With our design experience and planning considerations, your addition or renovation can function and look like it was always a part of your home.
